Ubisoft released Rainbow Six Siege update 2.41 on all platforms during today’s maintenance period. This is the shooter’s first patch for 2023, and does not include a new operator or any new core content. Read on for what’s new in the Rainbow Six Siege January 18 patch notes.
Rainbow Six Siege Update 2.41 | Rainbow Six Siege January 18 patch notes:
Ubisoft didn’t comment on the patch, but there was an official changelog about the mid-season update! Read on for the patch notes from the Y7S4.2 designer.
- Added 1.5x and 2.0x to Commando 552
Grimm still needs to find the right spot in the meta. We believe it has potential, but we don’t have enough data to make a firm decision about which levers we should touch first.
So, we’ll start by increasing his available weapon sights to make him more versatile. We hope we can see more of Grim so we can evaluate how it’s being used and how we can make it more impactful.
- Increased the drones to 2 (from 1)
- Removed vertical grip from F2
We gave Twitch 1 a regular drone when we released Attacker Re-pick because we were concerned about how much information it could collect. The extra drone didn’t change how Twitch was played, and most of its presence was driven by the power of the F2 . Plus, since she’s the only attacker with a single drone, it’s an anomaly that makes the game harder to learn for newcomers.
We want to strengthen her support capabilities by adding the extra drone while also reducing her weapon power. We are aware that the F2 may become a challenging weapon to use as a result, but we believe the 417 is a good alternative if you want something lighter control it.
- (New) Damage Bonus: Increases weapon damage by 15%
We added a lot of barrels on the Y7S3, but the silencer took the spotlight. We continued to look for ways to make the Extended Barrel more attractive, as the damage is not enough to compete with the other muzzle attachments. In the end we decided to treat the underlying damage. This synergizes well with the current engagement behavior, so you’ll now keep both bonuses, base damage increase and drop reduction.
We can take this direction thanks to the new recoil patterns, because landing all bullets is more challenging, making the decision to go for the extra damage more risky.
Hip fire accuracy
Weapons are affected
- Spacing increased: AK12, ARX 200, SC3000K, LMG-E, 6P41, T-95, 417, AR-15.50, CAMRS, MK14
- Reduced spread: P10-C
- Augmented Burst: AUG A2, AUG A3, POF 9, LMG-E, 6P41, T-95, 417, AR-15.50, MK14
- Reduced growth spurt: CAMRS
Working on firearms is something that is always going on in the background. This time we focused on some weapons that were very accurate from the waist compared to other weapons of the same family.
- Damage: decreased to 47 (from 48)
With the previous damage and the new extended barrel, the Para-308 was capable of knocking out a 2 armor operator with only 2 bullets. Even if Capitao does not have a high presence, we believe that this combination is too strong, so we decided to reduce the damage a bit to avoid this situation.
Supernova (ECHO, HIBANA, AMARU)
- Damage: increased to 55 hp (from 48)
We want to encourage the combination of Supernova and Bearing-9 in Echo, so that players who enjoy setting their sights have a reliable alternative to Smoke and Mute.
9MM C1 (Frost)
- Damage: reduced to 36 hp (from 45)
9mm C1 has the highest KD in defense by far. To compensate for adding the 1.5x during Y7S3.0 and to avoid removing it again, we decided to reduce the damage. You can still play 1-shot trapped in receiving mats Your face and the magnified view should help you take the headshot.
AR-15.50 & M4 (MAVERICK)
- Damage: increased to 67 hp (from 62)
- Added 2.0x sights to M4
Maverick’s weapons have always underperformed compared to other attackers, but his utility has balanced the situation. Now that he doesn’t have access to Frag Renades, we expected only more experienced Maverick players to use him, which usually results in an increase in all stats. Unfortunately, the change was not enough.
He will be closely watched, as there are few counters to his utility outside of the aggressive mid peak, so utility wise he is already very strong. If it becomes extremely popular, it could make actively defending a fortified wall feel pointless to defenders.
- Damage: reduced to 36 hp (from 44)
The UZK had the highest damage per second of any SMG, it was more in line with assault rifles than other SMGs. We considered reducing his damage a while ago, but since Thorn isn’t very popular it wasn’t urgent. Now, when we change the extended barrel, the potential power level of the UZK needs to be adjusted.
AUG A2 (WAMAI, IQ)
- Vertical Recoil: Increased speed upwards.
- Horizontal Recoil: Increased spread during long bursts with a slight tilt to the left.
The AUG A2 is one of the aforementioned weapons that benefits greatly when paired with the suppressor. We want to make this combo more challenging to use as it is quite strong defensively. It should be noted that these adjustments will have slightly different values on PC compared to consoles.
If there are other changes or other patch notes released for this title update, we’ll update the article with it.
