A Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance’s 10-year anniversary event will mark the game’s 10th year since its release in Japan, with celebrations taking place on February 21st later this year.

The announcement was made via the official Platinum Games Twitter account:

Along with the Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance celebration event, it looks like we’ll be getting some art as part of commemorating the event. The tweet didn’t say anything other than what you see here, which means we didn’t get any information about possible MGRR ports or sequels.

Still, that doesn’t mean it’s out of the question. Dragon’s Dogma celebrated its 10th anniversary last year as well, and during the celebratory live broadcast, a sequel called “Dragon’s Dogma 2” was announced. Of course, Dragon’s Dogma and MGRR are very different games, and for all we know, this is just a weird celebration of a fun third-person action game.

It’s worth noting that MGRR has enjoyed a recent resurgence in the gaming community due to its iconic soundtrack and extreme cutscenes. We’ll just have to wait until the anniversary to see if Platinum Games has anything in store for MGRR fans, but until then, you’d better temper your expectations with some beautiful art.
