If you’re planning on playing Hogwarts Legacy and wondering if friends and family can play the game without having to create their own profile so as not to overwrite your game save, rejoice! WB Games has just confirmed that Hogwarts Legacy will include multiple character slots.
This was confirmed by the official WB Games Support Twitter account in response to a fan question on the subject:
Hey Matt! Thanks for your question! There are 4 separate character slots. For each new character, we will have the following 2 types of save and slot functionality: 5 auto save slots and 10 player manual slots. We hope you and your sister enjoy the game!

This is definitely good news for those who have a spouse, child, relative or friend who is a Harry Potter fan who wants to play the game on one device. This means you can play and progress in your game, and they can simply connect to theirs for a separate experience.
While this is good news, the fact that the game won’t support cross-save is not. This was also confirmed by the WB Games Support account, where it notes that while players will be able to link the two platforms to receive rewards for each version of the game, the save data will remain on the platform it was created on.

However, it has not been clarified whether cross-save is supported across consoles if it is within the same console family (ie PS4 PS5 ad Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S).
Hogwarts Legacy launches for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on February 10, 2023, with the last-gen version (PS4, Xbox One) scheduled for release on April 4, 2023. The Nintendo Switch version is slated for release on July 25, 2023. .
