PlatinumGames today released the Bayonetta 3 1.2.0 update for the Nintendo Switch platform. Today’s update comes with combat adjustments and bug fixes. Below are the patch notes for Bayonetta 3 Jan 11.

Combat adjustments
- Adjusted Viola’s launch window to “block” and launch conditions to witch time.
- Added block activation window after releasing a block (during the release animation).
- Added an additional animation when Witch Time takes effect, making its activation easier to accomplish.
- Witch Time’s allotted duration and activation window have been extended.
- Now when the block activates when the player is attacked, the player will take a damage effect, but the block will succeed and trigger the witch time.
- The combo can now continue (with Dodge Offset) when a player uses Block to activate Witch Time.
- If the blocking input is reused, the duration of the granted witch time will decrease.
- Made adjustments to prevent Viola’s dodge input and Cheshire’s summon receiver from activating Assault Slave while maintaining an invincible island if used in quick succession.
- Simon, Tartarus, and Viola’s charge attacks can now continue to last, even if dodged or blocked.
- Wink Slave can now be triggered from the “PKP*” and “PKK*” combinations for the “G-Pillar”, “Dead End Express” and “Cassiopeia” weapons.*P is Punch, and K is Kick
- When equipping the Infernal Summoner and Roller’s Butterfly accessories to summon demons and butterflies, the summoning motion can now be canceled by dodging or blocking.
Nippelheim
The following Nippelheim stage conditions have been changed to lower the difficulty:

game modes
- The conditions for obtaining the “Tricolor Keys” needed to open the “Old Picture Book” have become easier.
- “Tricolor Keys” will be automatically available on the chapter selection screen once access to the “Gates of Hell” is enabled.
- Even if the player already has access to the Gates of Hell, or has already obtained one or two keys, they will automatically obtain the remaining keys when they go to the chapter selection screen after applying the update.
other changes
- Adjustments were made to the cocoon treasure chests found in stages.
- The time limits were increased, and the difficulty decreased.
- Golem’s chest splitting animation can now be triggered using the B button.
- Adjustments have been made to reduce situations with poor camera visibility.
- Adjusted game balance.
Bug fixes
- Fixed a bug in Chapter 7 verse 5 that prevented progress when certain actions were taken while in control of Cheshire.
- Fixed an issue with the “Hymn of Durga” accessory where its effect was not applied to some attacks.
- Fixed an issue where using Alruna’s “Whip Enslavement (P or K* long press)” skill in certain situations would cause enemies to die instantly.
- Fixed an issue where the weapons using “Crow Within” (J* long press)” with “Scarborough Fair” and “Love is Blue” would cause the player to progress significantly under certain conditions.
- Fixed an issue where Bayonetta’s animations would not play correctly when switching weapons immediately after using “Crow Within (J* long press)” with the “Scarborough Fair” and “Love is Blue” weapons.
- Fixed a bug that caused “Black Pearl Rain (Rotate L stick + S*)” for the infernal demon “Kraken” to activate “Wink Slave” with abnormally high attack power.
- Fixed a bug that caused “Devil Rodin” to get stuck for a while when using “After Burner Kick (↑K* in the air)” consecutively, immediately after coming up with “After Burner Kick (J・K*)” previously.
- Fixed a bug where Viola’s Assault Slave was able to summon Infernal Demons in “Infernal Demon Prohibited Areas”.
- Fixed an error in the hand symbol seen in Cutie J’s change sequence viewable in Side Chapter.
- Fixed other issues to make the game more enjoyable to play.
