Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon will likely include dynamic, FromSoftware-like boss battles and multiplayer-focused elements and features, such as customizable and shareable icons. The new Armored Core 6 information was revealed during a Taipei Games presentation held during the event.

Armored Core 6’s boss fights are “dynamic,” with a variety of close-quarters and long-range combat, according to Armored Core 6 producer Yasunori Ogura:

Boss fights in FromSoftware games often require careful observation of the enemy’s movements, to catch that little number so you know exactly when to attack, and how best to make your move. That’s definitely the case again in this title, so I’m sure our users will find the boss fights extremely enjoyable. Because of the use of mechanics, both the player character and the enemy characters have extremely dynamic movements. As robots, their dynamism is matched only by the aggressiveness of their movement. The attack distance, in particular, changes frequently, from close range to far, then from far back to close again. In that respect, the dynamic action of these fight scenes really helps keep players on their toes.

While Ogura reiterated that the game’s story mode will be single-player only, he did talk a bit about the game’s multiplayer aspects. In particular, he talked about how there will be an online arena where you can fight against other players.

Another interesting online feature that returns in Armored Core 6 is its custom icons, which allow players to design their own icons to be displayed on their Armored Cores. These icons will also be shareable, so you can get other players to wear your icons or vice versa. Ogura also revealed that you can add weather stickers to your AC, which should allow players to create even more varied and unique designs.

When it comes to Armored Core 6’s difficulty, Ogura says that FromSoft emphasizes the game’s customization as part of what makes it “challenging.”

In this game, as always, we tried to create a game that poses a tough challenge for our players, and I’m sure we achieved that. Our approach to the issue of difficulty level in “ARMORED CORE VI” is slightly different from other titles, in that the most unique feature of the “ARMORED CORE” series is the incorporation of parts to customize the player’s mechanism. Since this is at the core of the title, matching these pieces is the key to overcoming difficulties in the game.
