The story of everyone’s favorite nihilistic cyborg may not be over yet. Quinton Flynn, the voice of Metal Gear’s Raiden, has teased new announcements for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance in the coming weeks, ahead of the game’s 10th anniversary.
With PlatinumGames in charge of development, the Raiden-led Metal Gear spin-off was released in February 2013. The game takes place after Metal Gear Solid 4 and follows Raiden in his struggle to protect America from bloodthirsty PMCs led by anarchist Senator Armstrong. The game departs from the stealth-focused gameplay of the main series and instead relies on heightened hack-and-slash combat, with Raiden’s inner turmoil against his “Jack the Ripper” persona becoming an important plot device.
Despite the positive reception from fans and critics and the developers’ desire to continue the spin-off story, no sequel ever materialized due to series creator Hideo Kojima’s troubled departure from Konami. That may change now, as Raiden’s voice actor Quinton Flynn has teased new Metal Gear Rising announcements ahead of the game’s 10th anniversary:
Follow things that will be published in the coming weeks 😉

Note that this may be in connection with recent rumors of a Metal Gear Solid remake being announced, or may hint at an alternate direction for the continuation of the Metal Gear Rising spin-off. In any case, it’s increasingly becoming clear that the Metal Gear IP still has a future, with or without Kojima.
Thanks, okami!
